Korf Tonearms
A foundation that gets out of the way.
Every tonearm shares the same responsibility: allowing the cartridge to recover everything contained in the record groove while contributing as little of its own character as possible. Designers have pursued that goal for decades, often arriving at very different solutions.
For Korf, every design begins with careful investigation. Founder Alexey Kornienkov has spent years exploring the mechanics of tonearm design through published experiments, prototype development, measurement, and listening. The resulting tonearms reflect a clear set of priorities, shaped not by convention or feature lists, but by a determination to address the aspects of tonearm design that matter most to musical performance.
The Priorities That Shape Every Korf Tonearm
Years of measurement, prototype development, and listening led Korf to focus on the areas that most directly influence tonearm performance. Those priorities shape every model, whether built from steel, ceramic, or sapphire.
Managing Energy
Not all vibration is harmful, but where it goes matters. Korf designs its tonearms to route unwanted energy away from the cartridge as efficiently as possible, preserving low-level detail and natural dynamic expression.
Quality of Motion
Korf’s zero-friction, zero-stiction flexure bearing provides predictable, repeatable motion, allowing the cartridge to track complex musical passages with greater accuracy and stability.
A Stable Platform
Rigid arm tubes and headshells provide the cartridge with a stable platform from which to recover the music. By minimizing flex throughout the structure, more of the stylus’ motion is translated into musical information rather than lost as mechanical distortion.
Built to Stay Right
Precision adjustments only matter if they remain precise. Korf tonearms are engineered to hold their settings, require virtually no maintenance, and deliver consistent performance over years of listening.
The Korf Lineup
TA-SF9/9R/11R
Brings Korf’s design priorities to a broad range of high-quality analog systems, combining exceptional compatibility, musical performance, and value.
TA-AF9/10
Builds on the SF/9 with a ceramic arm tube, delivering greater resolution and dynamic expression while preserving the natural character of exceptional cartridges.
TA-CF9/10
Employs a sapphire arm tube to deliver Korf’s most uncompromising expression for the finest turntables and analog systems.
