Wharfedale Denton 1S

A different kind of Heritage.

The Denton 1S reminds us that Heritage isn’t about recreating the past—it’s about carrying forward the ideas that made the originals memorable.

Inspired by the boldly modern Denton 1 of 1974, the 1S pairs clean lines and painted finishes with contemporary acoustic engineering. Available in Black, Blue, or White, it reflects a moment when Wharfedale looked forward rather than backward, proving that timeless design isn’t always traditional.

Inspired by a different chapter of Wharfedale history.

When the original Denton arrived in 1967, it demonstrated that serious hi-fi performance could come from a genuinely compact loudspeaker. A few years later, the Denton 1 took an even bolder step, embracing a cleaner, more modern aesthetic that reflected the changing tastes of the 1970s.

The Denton 1S revisits that spirit of innovation rather than simply recreating it. It preserves the original’s willingness to challenge expectations while employing modern driver technology, cabinet engineering, and crossover design to deliver the balanced, engaging sound listeners expect from Wharfedale today.

Coherence you can hear.

At the heart of the Denton 1S is a modern coaxial driver that places the tweeter at the acoustic center of the mid/bass driver. Rather than hearing individual drivers working together, listeners experience voices and instruments emerging from a single, unified source.

That coherence gives the Denton 1S an effortless sense of focus and imaging. Vocals remain anchored in space, instruments occupy convincing positions within the soundstage, and complex recordings retain their composure without sacrificing warmth or musical flow.

Like every Wharfedale, the goal isn’t spectacular hi-fi effects. It’s to make the performance feel believable.

Designed for contemporary living.

The Denton 1S is equally comfortable anchoring a dedicated listening room, bringing character to a desktop system, or filling a smaller living space with music. Its compact footprint makes placement easy, while its balanced presentation rewards careful system matching without demanding it. A discreet rear-panel brilliance control provides a subtle way to tailor the high frequencies to your room and listening preferences, making it even easier to integrate the Denton 1S into a wide variety of systems.

Pair it with a quality integrated amplifier and streamer for an elegant modern system, or let it reveal the warmth and dimensionality of vinyl through a thoughtfully assembled analog front end. However it’s configured, the Denton 1S reflects the same philosophy that has guided Wharfedale for decades: creating loudspeakers that invite you to spend more time listening and less time thinking about equipment.
