EMT Phono Cartridges
For more than 80 years, EMT has built equipment for playing records. Founded in Germany in 1940, the company became closely associated with professional broadcasting through turntables such as the EMT 927 and 930, machines designed for the demands of daily studio use.
From the broadcast studio to the listening room
EMT’s work in professional broadcasting eventually led to cartridge manufacturing. In 1959, the company began producing its own pickup systems, followed in 1965 by the TSD 15, a moving-coil cartridge that became a fixture in broadcast studios around the world.
EMT’s professional origins continue to shape the cartridges it builds today. The emphasis is on precise mechanical construction, robust generators and reliable tracking, but those priorities were never ends in themselves. A broadcast cartridge still had to reproduce music convincingly, record after record.
Today’s EMT cartridges carry that approach into contemporary home systems. They offer a distinctly EMT approach to analog playback: engineering developed through decades of professional use, refined for listeners at home.
