Where the System Comes Together

A preamplifier sits at the center of a stereo, selecting sources, controlling volume and setting the conditions for everything that follows. The Quad 33 and Lab 12 pre1 approach that job very differently: one through a compact, flexible solid-state design, the other through a purist tube circuit. Both are built around the same fundamental goal—giving the sources and power amplifier around them room to do their best work.
