Whammerdyne DAM
Damn Awesome Mono Monoblock Amplifier
The Whammerdyne DAM is a single-ended, parallel 2A3 tube monoblock amplifier built around an uncompromisingly simple design philosophy: a pure DC coupled circuit topology with no capacitors in the signal path, independent extremely low noise regulated DC supplies for each circuit, and transformers chosen for musical immediacy and tonal integrity. The result is an amplifier that delivers remarkable presence, speed, and dynamic nuance.
Designed for listeners who value expressive midrange and lifelike musical flow, the DAM produces vivid, engaging sound while preserving the subtle textures and timing cues that define great recordings.
Listening Character
The DAM is known for a presentation that feels immediate and emotionally engaging. Instruments and voices emerge with convincing body and presence, while spatial cues remain intact and believable.
The DAM focuses on the qualities that make music feel alive: tonal density, dynamic nuance, and the ability to reveal subtle phrasing and texture within a performance.
System Matching
Single-ended tube amplifiers perform best when paired with loudspeakers of appropriate sensitivity and impedance stability. In a well-matched system, the DAM rewards the listener with exceptional coherence and musical realism.
Backbeat Audio is happy to help determine whether the DAM is an appropriate match for your loudspeakers and listening space.
